What an odd thing to say :( They won their independence so keep dreaming :P I'm in Hue at the momment and loving every min :D much respect to most of you in Vietnam who are kind hearted, you will always have a place in my heart and i'll never forget the good people I have met i'll forever be thinking of you, I might be a world apart from you but we are the same in heart and spirit take care.

@niubluer Vietnam was a vassal of China for 1000 years. So, of course, Vietnamese vocabulary, government, architecture, etc. is going to be Chinese influenced. Look at a nation like Thailand: It's architecture, alphabet, culture borrows heavily from Mon/Khmer. But, I don't see people saying "Thailand is too Khmer." And, guess what? The English alphabet is based on Latin and most of its vocabulary is French. But, folk don't say "England is too Latin."
