  • Brian is making a point about American Xianity and its habits of materialism and abstraction. From experience I know we Western Christians have baptized Jesus' message into individualistic terms such as prosperity and success. If we knew Jesus in his time we'd be surprise how little he lived on and we'd rethink some things about ourselves. This is what's "broken;" just as a telescope that no longer looks straight, our viewpoints have shifted and have forgotten about what's most fundamental.

  • Stupid!

  • I've read plenty of McLaren - enough to understand that he has no quibble with the Gospel, or the Bible, but with pinheads who believe they know as much as God does about His intent. That's just doing the apple from the Tree of Knowledge thing all over again. It is time to try something different - which, by the way, is not new - so, ditto back on reading the Bible. Try listening to God - you'll be challenged. Yes, the church IS broken. Fortunately, God does what God does, by loving us anyway.

  • I'd like to see a video where this guy makes a point...takes a side...backing up the claims he makes about the "broken" condition of true Christianity. There's nothing broken about the Gospel Mr. McLaren...for NARROW is the path that leads to righteousness and there are few who find it...stop reading your book. Read your Bible.

  • I like the comment about between platonism and materialism. cool stuff!

  • looking forward to the book and deep shift event.
