And Hollywood etc is no longer based on the epitome "no business like show business".
It's a money-making business. Little ironic since Mayer was a money making machine himself. Entertainment was different in those days. Ben Hur was their Tom Cruise film :O)

CGI has depressed the cinematic expression & emotion in all of us. Audiences are flocking to see them, which tells the film industry it must be okay to make them. It's up to independent film makers to "bring it back". Unless another Sam Goldwyn, Louis B Mayer type figure has influence. Makes you wonder what they'd say if they came back to see the Box Office hits today.

There's one thing the New Hollywood can't revive. Film Noir. I've seen a couple of film but it just doesn't have that same feel Old Hollywood gave us! ;)

hollywood new trend is to make films wich takes 70% of it in special effects. there are no more scripwriters anymore....
