Petroleum is one of nature's most toxic substances. Industries connected to its extraction & refining are also toxic. The gulf disaster is only one of many ways that fossil fuels have poisoned the planet.

But just like addicts, we continually cling to fossil fuels-
no matter who dies
no matter whose health suffers
no matter environmental damage done
no matter what wars must be fought

Energy companies are the drug dealers and we are their indentured servants. We pay them with electric bills and when we fuel our cars. And we believe in our addiction.

This is not an inevitable consequence of the industrial age. It is the result of decisions made when other options were available. Those other options were drowned out or eliminated in the grab for market dominance.

CASTROL motor oil, for instance, has been a major player in high-speed racing and aviation. It is made from the castor bean (a seed).

And then, there is HEMP.
At one time, HEMP's seed, stalk, and pulpous center were the world's PRIMARY SOURCES of industrial oils, paints, paper, fabrics, plastic, proteins & 1000's more. It can also be a diesel fuel. Farmers could grow their own fuel with hemp without the impact of refining.

INDUSTRIAL HEMP is a NON-TOXIC source of quality oil that provides BETTER products than the HIGHLY TOXIC petroleum products that require intensive refining. While dioxin is used to turn trees into paper, hemp needs no chemical refining and hemp paper is so superior that it lasts for generations. The thousands of products made from hemp are all superior.

HEMP does not require fertilizers or pesticides. In fact, it is helpful in turning fallow soils back into productive land. Cotton is inferior to HEMP stalk, and requires the use of vast quantities of pesticides.

The HEMP plant can produce the same pulp stock for paper in one acre-- that would take four acres of trees. It also pulls carbon dioxide from the air most efficiently.

Rather than being prohibited, hemp should be required
to be grown in every country on earth-- to bring down the levels of carbon in the air, and to lessen the use of toxic products.

Many thousands of farmers can grow the HEMP for a great profit, as it is so useful in thousands of ways. Petroleum, however, enriches only the few.

Imagine what our world would be like if we had been using non-toxic sources of energy and industrial products. Our lakes and rivers would be living sources of beauty, not restricted fishing and swimming areas.

  • @GilsMusic

I'm glad you like it. Like I said, it isn't how I originally saw it done, but ... ok.

You're welcome to upload it and use, if you like.

  • Turned out really great Linda! Glad I could contribute. I have partnered with Global Green USA now to try and raise money for the Gulf Coast relief efforts they are doing. More info here:
