A recording of the incident shows the Layton men being stopped on a slope by two resort officials. One official threatened to take the snowboarders' passes for moving too quickly on a "slow" run. The snowboarders argued that they were on a main run rather than a bunny slope and that they were not warned about their speed beforehand.

"There is a slow sign up there, and this is a slow-skiing zone," the official said.

He told the pair multiple times to "shut your ... mouths," once using an expletive many find offensive.

"Wow, that is not ... this is a little ridiculous," one of the snowboarders said. "You're harassing us because we're young."

I've never been harassed like this at another mountain," he later said, adding that directing expletives at the pair "was way too far."

The official apologized to the pair, and Snowbasin later posted on Facebook about the incident, saying they "are frankly embarrassed by this situation and have taken measures to prevent this type of incident occurring in the future."

The apology garnered hundreds of comments after it was posted Wednesday afternoon, with some saying it was not a true apology and many wondering what measures the company had taken to prevent similar incidents.

"Loyal customers deserve to know what measures have been taken," commented Rocky Bingham, a Harrisville resident.

The resort's posting did not negate the actions of the employees, according to some.

"It's unfortunate because it was only two of its employees in particular, but they reflect the company as a whole ... this is unacceptable and clearly reflects poor management and attitude of Snowbasin as a company," commented Trevor Jackson, a student at the University of Utah.

Others, though, put faith in the resort and pointed out that the official apologized for his language.

"I'm just glad this kind of thing was finally caught on tape, 'cause it has definitely happened to me three or four times in my six years of season passing," commented Syracuse resident Ryan Stuart. "Now maybe they'll do something about it."

  • "I get yelled at all the time for going fast!" Hmmm., perhaps you might slow down even more when riding through the bunny area. Tim should have perhaps chosen a better demeanor and a better choice of words, but that was not harrasment. If you want to see harrasment, watch the video, don't do it in the park. Those guys have a sense of humor. I hope these two fine upstanding go pro children are proud to know that they helped to rid the slopes of well trained patroller.

  • @smuggstewie the patroller wasn't fired bro, if your read the description you would know that. he had to apolagize

  • This should be on the news!!!

  • @STORMINNORMAN800 it actually was on the news. not a big channel, but Utah's local "KSL" news channel. the description gives all the details i pulled from the website.

  • THey're so damn gay, I'm local here they get po'd all the time.

  • I'm a Park City, Utah skier for life and I was an instructor. THIS WAS UNCALLED FOR! Patrollers are not cops and have no right to use that sort of language with anyone. He should be fired or at least suspended so he can maybe check his tone before insulting a guest! I don't care how long you have been patrolling, you're a fucking amateur! How about you shut the fuck up when you're fired asshole!

  • I can't believe you guys are still going on about this.

  • @idahogirl1000 I am sorry, but you are delusional.

  • Those guys were not going fast. Those kids absolutely deserved apologies. Resorts should not forget that locals are their customers and not "problems for the tourists." Authority figures need not pray on young people. Those kids were totally respectful and I believe they were being harassed. That was a ridiculous old-man team ganging up on some teens. Also, they were completely in control contrary to what that instructor claimed.

  • @smuggstewie He wasn't going down the bunny hill for your information, This is right after middle bowl which is the main run off of the gondola. Don't even start, he was barely going fast, I don't know how he got picked out of everyone that flies down this run.

  • Ha ski patrol is a fuckin joke; I would have cracked his old ass... and then shit on his skis.

  • Mr.Makazu, do you know Tim? He is a hero in my book. He really is a nice guy. And you forgot one thing as well. When you pay, you agree to play by the resorts rules. Read the responsibility code, understand the resorts rules and regs. Someone has to make the calls for the resort or people get hurt. If someone spoke to my kids like that I would be a little upset, but I would get medievil on their ass if someone hit them. Also you seem homophobic and have anger management issues. Peace.

  • @smuggstewie You honestly think that this was the first "mistake" that this hero of the nation made?????

    You are seriously delusional!!!!!

  • @smuggstewie You have to be kiddin?????

Don't do it in the park, the guy is a fruitcake!!!!! Funny yes, but a fruitcake!!!!!

And the "well trained patroller" forgot one of the first things that an employee is taught!!!!! The customer is the one that pays the bills!!!!!

If someone spoke to your kids like that, would you be happy????? If ya said yes, then you need to go and keep an eye on the park!!!!!

I would've knocked the old farts head off!!!!!
