CITY! A Club in Crisis - part one of the 1981 behind-the-scenes Manchester City documentary.
This part begins with City in the bottom three with no wins from the first eight games of their 1980/81 season and champions Liverpool visiting Maine Road. Malcolm Allison's job is hanging by a thread...
I wasn't even born but i know this was when city went down 2 seasons later, Allison was great with Mercer but replaced are whole team with shit youngsters.
@dazzammm You are right - it WAS a good goal (the sort of goal that Shearer and Lineker could not score - which is why I see them as good but Dalglish as GREAT).
I think that big Mal's point was that, from a defensive point of view, after the trickery from Dalglish - the shot was quite tame by the time it got to Corrigan and a keeper of his stature should have held on to it - not let is squirm past him. He has a good point.
I remember when it came on but it was way past my bedtime so my mum didn't let me stay up and watch it. It's so FUNNY to see it - 30 years on - and remembering how bad things were at the time.
I dont care what Big Mal says - Dalglish's goal was a good goal. This was the first game I ever went to. My dad was a city fan and i a liverpool fan. he took me many times to city v liverpool games and stopped when city lost every time. its only recently that he will watch city v liverpool games with me.
So who remembers where Anelka became great???
