I am a rabid, hardcore rightwinger, but of the European sort a la Le Pen and Haider. The chokehold the religious right has on conservatism in this country is anathema to me.

We probably have more in common than you might think - I suppose I would classify myself as a liberal overall, but I try to come to conclusions about issues based on as much information as possible, rather than making up my mind as a result of ideology (not that I'm saying you do, of course).

If it can be proven to me objectively that my position is stupid/unworkable, what choice would I have but to change it?

They promote this bimbo, a MA from NYU in religious studies, who claims to be an atheist but is really and obviously a member of the christian fascist movement. Atheists should come up with a hot christian bimbo, who articulates their position while claiming the opposite. A christian who is for raining in the idiocy of christian beliefs and then eventually she converts to atheism.

I am an atheist. I believe that some religious people should be defended, supported, and followed. I don't necessarily believe that religion is enitrely undesirable either.

Her claim to being an atheist is simply a ploy to enhance the credibility of her religious views. If she said she was religious, which I believe she is, her pro-religious stance might appear to be biased. By claiming to be an atheist she is only trying to gain more credibility by surrounding her opinions with a false veil of impartiality. Like Coulter she is merely a shrewd marketer that caters to a gullible right wing christian niche while not believing a word of what she says.
