Linda Douglass of the White House Office of Health Reform answers a question from outside the recent town hall in New Hampshire on whether any government involvement in health care will end up limiting choices for consumers. This is a myth: even the addition of a public option will be just that another option and will not eliminate any choices to the consumer. To the contrary, this would bring down costs and expand choice. August 19, 2009. (Public Domain)

  • eh, one more thing... we need to make, some better changes... Not spending the hell out of everything with these stimulus packages or whatever they are again. I need change I can believe in... where is it Mr. President? How about... REDUCING the deficit spending... Cutting earmarks and unproductive costs, Huh? That sounds good doesn't it.

  • Hmm, this channel that puts out these videos... is done by Obama no doubt, and it's slanted information... information at this moment considered "left"... The public doesn't actually buy everything they're (media/govt) saying anymore because it's scatterbrained nonsense. Hey Obama... I see you, how is that bill going to take over the internet? Put that on the news, see what reaction it gets... laugh my ass off. Failing because... you're trying to make people digest too much at once.. you're..

  • well you should have allowed more than one side of the debate speak in the town hall instead of segregating!

this is what the majority of Americans think about you Mr santoro watch?v=8e7VA6lp3IM

  • bobjman:

The only health care system that is not sustainable in the long run is yours. No country uses more of its budget on healthcare than you, yet you fail to cover 50 million people, because the money is spent on CEO's, not the people!

Im from Norway and we have 0 debt, yes, 0. We have more or less the same system as the Netherlands, and the rest of your allies for that matter.

Canada, UK, all of Scandinavia, France, Germany, Japan, Australia just a few examples, all are better than yours.

  • ""External debt" is defined as the total public and private debt owed to nonresidents repayable in foreign currency, goods, or services"

So I have a share in private debt overseas? I don't think so.

And when we look at public debt the US (~61%) does a lot worse than we (~45%) do.

Secondly I can't find any source that shows health care systems being responsible for the majority of national debt, in any country.

  • Your health care system is not sustainable economically in the long run. Your nation has the 5th largest debt to GDP ratio in the world, it's even higher than the USA's. The Netherlands external debt is 268% of its GDP. Your own personal share of your government's debt is 145,959 USD.

If I were allowed to run up as much debt as the Netherlands, I could hire my own personal doctor, but I'd have no money for health care when the debt collectors come. Your system needs foreign loans; it can't last.

  • OMG such paranoid people exist in america :| :| . Me as a non-american am shocked at the propaganda and false information some people believe in. On the internet, media and real life. Even as a foreigner I understand the healthcare reform better than (it seems) most americans.

  • It's Illegal!!... There is no "if ands or BUTTS".. this is illegal. O-Bumb-mommy is going to shove this down the True Americans Throats!!

  • Six Words to End the Health Care Debate

Make Health Care Costs Tax Deductible

This simple solution will appease the left which only wants everyone to have health care, it will appease the right who don't want uncle sam in charge of health care

Additionally this will give the Govt incentive to get out of bed with FDA and Big Pharma and also give the Govt incentive to make sure people get cures, don't get sick, and stay healthy

And as an added bonus, this only helps taxpaying citizens

  • Gee golly willikers, why ain't all this just special. :D Why don't you get a final bill together and let us all look at it... and put it in layman's terms /in/ the bill. That would be a lot better for all of us, don't ya think?
