Cant we all just get along?

Even in the 60s black people were lynched by angry mobs in the south, stupid man and woman with racist ideology. To just see a black guy in a picture or series in this time is great and even better if they are portrayed in the right way as humans a normal human being as they are.

This is 1960. Black men, by and large, had been for decades portrayed as little more than fawning bugged eyed clowns. The fact that "Bolie" was portrayed as a fully developed man, was still revolutionary for the times; yet Hollywood was not ready to go near any hint of a black man who expressed tender affection for the opposite sex--the fear of black masculine sexuality had been that great. In 1960, I would have been about the boy's age.

Why didn't Bolie hook up with the boy's mom? She was insanely beautiful! Also, he gets along good with the kid...why not?

I spent way too much time thinking about that, when I first saw this. I think it's partly that I wish I could! She was a complete babe.
