  • Why the music stand? When I do recitals I learn my music. It's such a barrier between the singer and the audience.

  • @Prolyrictenor This was a recital of the accompanist's (vocal coaching and accompanying major) and the singer was invited to perform this and other songs -- hence the stand. But I do agree stands can be a barrier between singer and audience.
