This video shows the LEGO model of a Boeing 747-8 Intercontinenal that my son and I built in September 2009. We used roughly 2000 pieces from two LEGO #10177 787 Dreamliner Kits. The same basic architecture was followed, but it is of course much larger. The 747-8 has a substantially different fuselage shape versus the 787, so it took a lot of thinking and study of photos to arrive at a workable design.

  • Yes it's from the pieces of two other models, but put together differently...

    I'll note for sharp-eyed 747 fans the one area I'd like to improve is the top of the aft fuselage where is meets the fin. On the real 747, the top of the fuse is arrow straight all the way to the trailing edge of the rudder. Our model has a small downward taper. This was difficult to model accurately within the constraints of LEGO blocks.
