@AZbarbedwire Andrews lyracists usually create a few different versions. That way he can create shows that vary between productions. That might be why DeBarges version is different. Andrew did the same thing with Phantom and Sunset too

When the show originally played on Broadway, Starlight Express was sung by El Debarge (of the Debarge brothers, who were a music group in the 80s). His version had different words and a different feeling.

He went on to be in a National Tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in 2005/06 as Zebulon/ensemble and swing Jospeh after he was in StEx. He has done several other regional shows since then. Currently he is in a regional production of 42nd Street in Florida.
