2010 MacBook Pro i7 LCD quality. 1680x1050 high res anti-glare screen. LG Philips 9CBB panel. This is the custom calibrated profile made with my x-rite/Gretag MacBeth/Pantone i1 Display 2 colorometer. Auto adjusting brightness is disabled. Stock color profile exhibits same characteristics but the color tones are worse. Not very good calibrated either, colors are very inaccurate. Very expensive "pro" computer with a very bad screen.

  • Apple has superfast systems out for 2011, with supercrap screens. Every laptop lcd has really bad brightness or colour issues, this includes the high res LCD for the 15". I did have a chance to test the 17" from 2010, and it's LCD was fantastic! Still some shift from top to bottom, but a superior panel to the rest. I am currently on my 4th iMac i7 due to screen distortions and tinting. BS, Apple.

  • @AsAnAtheistFilms definitely will. I just checked Elitebook 8740W and I must say it is intriguing :)

Yup you are quite welcome. There are plenty of other consumer premium laptops with better displays then the MBP you just gotta keep your out.

You can also check out Notebook Review's, they often have some LCD measurements.

  • @AsAnAtheistFilms Thanks for the info! I will check them out

    Dell's E6500 Dual CCFL WUXGA 15.4" 1920x1200 LCD

Most of Sony VAIO's Z screens, as well as a few of their premium 15" notebooks have pretty darn decent LCD's.

Dell Precision Mobile M6500 is definitely better then the MBP in terms of picture quality and even brightness.

Now if you want truly vastly superior:

HP Elitebook 8740W Dreamcolor 2 IPS panel, great viewing angles great picture quality

Lenovo X200 (or is it X300) with the IPS outdoor screen

I work with tons of laptops a week.

  • @AsAnAtheistFilms Could you give an example of laptop with better screen?

  • Can't expect much from a TN panel, mixed with phosphorus coated blue LED's, and ofcourse a glossy fnish. That's any laptop.

LED's are a bit too bright on the MBP to be of professional use. Not to mention they produce tinting.

Glossy finish allows for heavier translucence which gives allows for better contrast, and slight viewing angle (debatable on a TN panel) but poor gamma/brightness control.

Average quality TN panel with poor color accuracy, bad viewing angles, and inferior Image quality.

  • Same thing with 17" mid 2010. Completely terrible screen for a horrendous price.

  • Macs suck.
