"Alexander's Ragtime Band" ( Dixxieland / Mardi Gras Music) Sung by MamaMiaLove

"Come on along...let me take you by the hand..."so says Irving Berlin when he coined the lyrical phrase.
What a great musician he was...it fits right into the Mardi Gras season with dancing in the street and costumes and marching bands. Kick up your heels with Mamamialove and she delivers a rousing version of "Alexanders
Ragtime Band."
I sing with this band once in a while. They all are very experienced and have been playing for over many years.
Its a privilege to play with them now and again.
It is thought by some that Irving Berlin borrowed a melody from a draft of Scott Joplin to write this song...no one knows for sure. But, by listening to the 29 songs that are in the movie of the same name , you'd think he wouldn't ever need any help. He was that kind of great talent!

The movie is wonderful and portrays the lives of Irving Berlin, Paul Whiteman, and George Gershwin..all my favorites. The song was a hit in 1911 and the movie came out in 1938 with Ethel Merman and Tyrone Power..to name a few. Songs like A Pretty Girl is Like a Melody and one of my all time favorites..Blue Skies...just a few of Berlins great tunes.

Oh dear one...I am so glad you liked it.

Boy...I have a split personality...hah hah

cause one side of me loves to sit for hours and watch the birds..and be quiet..and then i like to bust out and sing in a parade with a baton and all..hah hah..

Oh on another note...I saw the best thing on the back of the box of frosted flakes box- with artistic drawings of birds and a science report with suggestions of how to help the birds in nature...made for a great learning while having breakfast.
