June 8, 2008. Heritage Toronto members celebrated National Rivers Day by exploring Toronto's Canadian Heritage river by voyageur canoe. Canoeists travelled back in time to hear stories of the First Nations, French and British who used the Humber as a travel and trade route from Lake Ontario to Lake Huron, courtesy of Madeleine McDowell of the Humber Heritage Committee. The tour was a resounding success, with thanks to our partners the City of Toronto Inner City Out-tripping Centre and the Humber Alliance.
