Contrary to people showing off with it on the street, "Purging" has a purpose and is done before a race to clean the lines of any impurities or air pockets before shooting it to the motor. It is just a precaution taken to insure consistent nitrous pressure throughout the run to avoid power band interruption.
The gain (consistency)
the loss (wasted nitrous)

It was a 10.80 run for anyone that wanted to know. The car has a new pro shifted tranny and the times are in the low 10.s now.

He is was qualifying for a 10.90 index class so he was pretty close to that. He was not spraying the car in 4th gear. A full NOS pass he would have ran around the 10.60's
