As the daughter of a coal miner, let me say, MTR is not coal mining! It is coal cultivating! And it is just wrong! If you are part of MTR, you are NOT a coal miner!

I met Gibson personally, he is truly a remarkable human being. People need to step up and help him bring down King Coal and their cronies and stop mountaintop removal! People like Don Blakenship of Massey Energy should be the ones living near MTR sites, they have no idea what its like.

I am absolutely against mountaintop mining. That being said, I keep hearing them talk about their ancestral home being taken away from them. NOW you know how the indigonous American Indians felt when the "Divine Providence" white people came in, took their land and threw them all on reservations. ALL IN THE NAME OF PROGRSS, PROFITS and MONEY.
It was wrong then and it is wrong now. Let's join hands with our American Indian friends and stop this crime against humanity. People over Profit. Period.

this is where you're wrong- he should have the option to keep his property without being harassed! Everything he did was for the better

I have much respect for coal miners. They work hard & risk their lives going underground to dig out the coal. No decent person would destroy our Appalachian heritage, our family values, the memories of our loved ones, our precious Appalachian culture...just to get money. MTR does *not* produce jobs; it only takes them away. How much has coal production increased compared to mining jobs? The facts are there if you aren't too bull-headed to look at them. Be honest with yourself.

The negative effects of coal mining vastly outweigh the benefits. It is a proven economic fact.

The abandon mines that are refered to in this video are probably reminants from the late 1800s to very early 1900s and therefore not subject to the regulations of recent years.
