I understand the verse parts of this song to primarily be about conformity, not feeding into the system when playing the game of life... and the chorus part to be contemporary with what Lennon and the Beatles were on with combining allusions to "The Wheel" and "Life" as metaphors from the Hindustani area religions, usually combined and referred to simply as Hinduism.

The audio is from a BBC Radio performance in May 1966. As for the video I think it's Paris and it's proabably the first look the world got of Jimmy Page as a Yardbird.
