Dutch Defense - Tata Steel 2012 - Boris Gelfand vs Hikaru Nakamura: 2012 World Chess Championship Challenger Boris Gelfand opens with d4, and Nakamura employs the Dutch Defense as black. Gelfand commits himself early with 12. Ng5 and 13. Nxe6 to win the black Be6, however this maneuver costs him valuable time in the center. Nakamura is able to achieve a space advantage in the center and especially cramp the white Bg2, while preventing the infiltration of white's rooks on the c7 square with 24. ...Be5. Gelfand fails to sense the danger in the position and does not stop black from opening the position with 26. ...d4, leading to a dangerous attack against white's king. The white Ba3 is an idle spectator, enabling Nakamura to achieve a powerful past pawn with 31. ...exf2+ and accurately convert his advantage with 35. ...Red4 - leading to Gelfand's capitulation.

  • Yours are my favorite chess related video analyses. When I visit Polgar's Blog, I first look for your videos (e.g.), especially with the Tata Steel tournament underway. I like your accessible and common sense outlook, rendering complex situations and moves understandable by bringing to bear simple and pragmatic principles. Even if familiar with such principles, it is nice to see how they relate - an incredible tool for improvement. You excel at this and thank you very much from all of us.

  • @jknow2255 Thanks buddy. That means a lot. Shoot me an email and I'll send you a free copy of my eBook and DVD when I finish it next month.

  • I have a idea for your eBook and DVD that you are going to finish next month its simple you make a video and then everyone tells you what likes most on your videos. You pick three that you like most and give then free copy of your eBook DVD.Im not going to ask for a free copy but if you give me one i would be glad.Ps: Three, one two... your call and don't need to be why he or she likes of your videos it can be about why he or she thinks why should win a free copy of your eBook an DVD

  • @joost2433 I should also say that I may have played Rc2 in that position as I would probably have not seen how it loses. Only in retrospect could I see how bad Rc2 was.

  • @Dysanfel23 11:48 'Gelfand is pretty busted here', while the position is only a little, tiny better for black. Also, don't forget that as an 1800 player, you're still a very good chess player. I think this guy's audience is people that don't see those things immediately. He's just not telling the truth, so what's to defend?

  • @joost2433 I am a 1800 player and I could see that Rc2 was the death move. He didn't need to state the obvious, did he?

  • I am a 2200 ELO player, and your video totally sucks! The game was of course drawn, until a horrible blunder by Gelfand, Rc2. I skipped the video to that point and looked what you had to say about it, but you didnt even mention it. You made it look like a very regular, straightforward victory while it wasn't. Now please don't try to make money by lying to lesser chess players, or are you not good enough yourself to see that the game was highly probably drawn at that moment??

  • very nice. thank you

  • Thanks

  • Oh almost forgot William im from Brazil and you are famous here to.

  • Guys please give a thumbs up in my idea if you like it.(so that William can see it).

  • I just subscribed to your channel ... and followed you in twitter..

Very informative video ... I like how do you address different positions with very simple Ideas like controlling a fall or a rank, unlike different chess channels commentators who I really do not want to describe. Thank you William.
