ATI Radeon 8500 vs. newer games

This is a video collage of an ATI Radeon 8500 playing various games. Includes Doom 3, FEAR, Quake 3, KOTOR, Far Cry and Half Life 2.

Radeon 8500 64MB 275/275 MHz. Core 2 Duo 2.67 GHz, 1GB PC3200, XP, Catalyst 6.11, Audigy.

Mind telling the settings you used for HL2, such as AA, AS, and the Frame rate you got.

@kawaiifreak860 There's probably anisotropic filtering enabled because it is low impact on 8500, but there is no anti-aliasing because 8500 only supports super-sampling and it has a huge performance hit. The frame rate was faster than you see in the video but not by much (FRAPS has some impact).

9800pro would STORM the 8500 ... it's years ahead! The 9700pro beat a GF Ti4600, which was twice as fast as a Geforce 3 Ultra, which was about as fast as the 8500. GMA4500m I have no idea. Laptops are for spreadsheets, not games.

doom 3 should run fine on 640x480 res and low settings (bump-mapping, specular and shadows on).

odd.....how come everyone says it's SSAA is equal to the Geforce 4's Accuview in terms of performane impact? O_o
