This is icekiting. Mix a frozen lake and some wind with a powerkite and short skis and hang on! You are able to work the kite in both directions across the ice - just like a sailboat on the water. With an 8-10 mph wind you can be doing 45mph on the ice.

I made the election to keep the wind and ski noise in the video to keep it more realistic. The feeling of floating across the ice is just fantastic. You should try it - but get real instruction first and never on less than 3" of ice. ComputerBob
