Wattstax is a 1973 documentary film by Mel Stuart that focused on the 1972 Wattstax music festival and the African American community of Watts in Los Angeles, California. The film was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Documentary Film in 1974. This excerpt is a brilliantly edited survey of African American Watts residents' feelings on the opposite sex.

Black love will never be that deep or on that level again.
black folk have lost respect for each other, family and god.
I miss being a child in the 70's and 80's it was fun, really
good and more wholesome than today's violent kids with
no respect for anything!

Compare the barbershop talk in this video with the barbershop talk in Chris Rock's documentary "Good Hair". Black men have changed so much and it's a damn shame. I refuse to say that black love will be what it once was BUT I will say that I don't think black men even know what black love is anymore. SOME black men use the "black men have it hard" card until it comes to relationships and black women and then they suddenly don't see race anymore! WTF!?

stillphil: I pray to god so. Black men are the most beautiful
on the planet. Strong, intelligent, faithful and loyal. Not the
violent animal as the non black world wants to percieve
my brotha's.I wish black men would get to know their
true place in history as the forefathers of mankind.Once
they are very secure with that, the rest falls into place,
The black woman must stand like the female geneal
Queen Ann Nzingha of africa and support a good black man. Our babies need mom and dad to be strong.

bigbodigga: I love black love between man and woman.
I wish black men of today would not reject good black
sista that support and love you brotha's?. I wish black
sista's would be more loving and supportive of a brotha
that is public enemy #1 world wide. The first man on earth
needs his black queen to be supportive as long as he is
truly trying to make it right for her and the family. It's a huge
lack of historical knowledge and respect for one another.
