Trust me, I went through this at Mayci's age and it was this type of thing that has left me with long-term problems, especially when i was being talked about instead of directly spoken to.
@PauleQueenie You also need to keep in mind that Mayci has likely gone through this procedure many times in the past, especially according to the conversation in the background- this is not her first EEG. After awhile, medical testing becomes old hat and routine. She shows no signs of fear, is calm, and has her mom right next to her.
@SkepticalAaron, Mayci is being ignored, do you like being ignored when somebody prepares your head for an EEG? Do you like people interacting around you without being asked if you are ok or without explaining to you step by step an electrode is put here and there on your head? Being a health care professional even more than parents is about INTERACTING with the patients and EXPLAINING the WHYS. This is NOT done ANYWHERE in this video. I ask you, would you to be downloaded dreams in your head?
What the hell are you talking about? What exactly do you expect her parents to be doing? They are sitting with her, paying attention to her and also talking to the nurse. What exactly would you be doing so differently, since you think this is somehow an awful thing to do?
I really like the way nobody address the little girl unto which these patches are applied, instead the healthcare staff and other people chat to each other and the girl is just "being prepared to have an eeg" until 2.44 till 2.55.
Personally I would not wish to be treated this way.
My baby started having EEG's at 5 months old and some of them overnight. She has tuberous sclerosis and epilepsy from it. She also did have infantile spasms which are gone. She is 2 and it is hard when they are 2 but she was pretty good but thinking maybe it is because she is use to it unfortunately.
Thank you! My 2.5 year old is scheduled for an EEG tomorrow and I wanted to show her what it would be like. She had one when she was about 9 months old and it was terrible for Mom because she had to be restrained. I'm hoping if she understand better she'll be more calm so thank you. Also, it's at a different place tomorrow which seems to be a bit warmer with kids.
