  • I have an easier way of finding the GC: Look at the plans that came with the plane. It is marked on there.

  • Well I agree a tail heavy plane is the worst to fly and almost impossible to land. I had my 1400mm P-47 way way way too tail heavy on the first flight. The trick I used that kept it in one piece is when you land, land almost completely with throttle control. The reason is that when your plane is tail heavy the elevator will drastically affect the plane. So, if you use throttle, and a tiny tiny amount of elevator, you might be lucky enough to keep it relatively unharmed. not guaranteed but helps.

    How about on a delta style ing where the thickness is pretty even and flat. I do use KF2 airfoil on my deltas, but always have a hard time finding the CG.

  • I have a J3 cub 1800mm wingsp. Havent had maiden yet, but will it be an idea to have it a bit nose heavy?

  • As some stated this is one type of wing and does not apply to all wings.  If you want true CG for all types of wings just google CG Calculator for accurate CG.

  • Swept jet wing... the hard part is finding "MAC"

    CG will still be appx 30% MAC for conventional (most airplanes) configuration or 15% for Delta or flying wing.

    Consider a plane with small horizontal stab, close to the main wing as being a flying wing.

    For "canards"... it gets even more complicated
