@stharm88 in my case, I start directly with CATIA V5, logically a mechanical/aeronautic engineer was my teacher; but, in your case you should start with Google SketchUp, its very simple to use, and the most important, its for beginners. Bye!

your using Catia for rendering? Catia is used for engineering design, not product design...try SolidWorks

catia and solidworks have volume and surface area...and cool stuff like that 3d max should have that....but it doesn't.......bugger how you make something in solidworks .....but i can make stuff in 3d max...

Theres a little diference between 3d Max and Catia. Catia is used in aerospace industry, automotive, shipbuilding, and other important industries around the world.
