Howard Zinn passed away suddenly at the age of 87 yesterday.

He was an inspiration to many. His passing is a great tragedy for all peace loving people in the world.

I had the good fortune to know him personally in his last few years, he was always encouraging and kind and helpful. I will miss him deeply.

Charngchi Way

"I am supposing, or perhaps only hoping, that our future may be found in the past fugitive moments of compassion, rather than the solid centuries of warfare. " --Howard Zinn

  • I couldn't care less when Diana and Michael Jackson died, but I will miss Howard Zinn.

  • Notice the lack of coverage in the mainstream U.S media to this historic figure, I wonder if they even will give Howard 1% of the coverage Michael Jackson or advertiser Billy Mays got when they died.

American media are just petty corporate mouthpeices, it is not in the interest of their sponsors that people know about such enlightening characters as Zinn, Chomsky, Russel etc.

May people continue to inspire, educate, and agitate as Howard Zinn had done...the banner must be carried on!

  • "If those in charge of our society - politicians, corporate executives, and owners of press and television - can dominate our ideas, they will be secure in their power. They will not need soldiers patrolling the streets. We will control ourselves." - Howard Zinn

  • @Franco187

    me too

i started crying when i found out

  • he was a real American

a person who wanted to show the american people the reality of the world and its government

  • I'm sorry, but "Prof. Noam Chomsky, do some exercise! live long!" struck a wrong chord with me and I lashed out. I was very upset about Howard Zinn's death. . . and I had a few glasses of wine after I found out, but that is no excuse.

  • were you drunk or something?

  • RIP . A hero

  • R.I.P.
