Recorded June 8, 2003. Grandfather Mountain is a mountain near Linville, North Carolina. At 5,964 feet, it is the highest peak on the eastern escarpment of the Blue Ridge Mountains. A paved road leads to one of mountain's several peaks, and there visitors will find a museum, the famous "mile-high swinging bridge", and views of up to 100 miles - on a clear day.
This video begins as I exit the Blue Ridge Parkway and drive to the top of the mountain, passing Split Rock on the way. On top I cross the Mile High Swinging Bridge while admiring the view in all directions. On the way back down the mountain I make a stop at the wildlife exhibit.

Would have been better without the Mexicans in the background.

I was at Grandfather Mountain also. I just happened to locate it on a road atlas and saw it was the highest point in the Blueridge Mountains so I wanted to go check it out. I wish I could live there.
