I just went there, and you were absolutely right. There were too many gators to count. You lose count on that trail , because you have to keep looking out for the next one.

Looks like its at the trail next to shark valley observation tower (north part of everglades national park)

The reason there are so many on that trail is because there is a canal there that stays with water year round so that during the dry season when there is no anywhere else, all the local alligators move into that canal.

If you want to see it for yourself go there just before spring (when the rains start).
