Happy 198th Birthday, Chuck! :D

Charles-Valentin Alkan's faithful transcription of the Andante from Joseph Haydn's Surprise Symphony, which is perhaps not that surprising nowadays :) Performed beautifully by Marc-André Hamelin.

  • If only MAH will be giving authographs on Sunday, I’ll try to ask him if there will be any special events dedicated to Alkan’s bicentennial in 2013... If only! I’m afraid that he’ll immediately go behind the curtains upon finishing his concert.

  • @f1f1s He usually dedicates after concerts. But even if it doesn't happen, try to catch him, you will surely find him in his dressing room :) And ask him if he is going to come to Hungary some day, please! If only he would give an Alkan recital here in 2013... I'm sure it would be a life-changing experience!
