Why forfeit? Why not postpone the game?

I don't think that was an option as Sparky Anderson (Tigers) threw an Academy Award winning fit stating that it's the responsibility of the the Sox to maintain safety, the crowd, and the field, therefore their only option was forfeit.

Anyone want to hold "Justin Bieber Demolition Night" as a tribute to "Disco Demolition Night" where unwanted Bieber albums would be put in a crate at a Major League Baseball Game and blown up real good?

I noticed after I posted that you were talking to someone else, and I agree. Really, if you think about it, almost all modern music comes from the same places, folk, jazz, blues, African rhythms, etc. but in the context of the era we're talking about (70's) it really was a 'rock' kind of dance music. Look at some of the so-called 'crossover' bands like Earth, Wind and Fire, or whoever. Rhythm and blues pretty much became 'beat' music, which was anything from pop to dance.

Err,my post wasn't directed at you.It was at the moron who was arguing about the actual music, not the fad, being dead.

And I suppose it depends on how broad your definition of rock is,I guess. The type of disco disco that lived on was the electronic,European sound more than the R&B based stuff. That stuff doesn't strike me as being closely linked with rock at all.

How about 10 cent beer night in Cleveland, people got completely wasted, started fighting, storming the field, etc. That's a riot! Disco Demolition was definitely crazy, anyone that was there can tell you that, and some of it was dangerous (people Frisbeeing records! Funny but probably painful if they connect) but it wasn't a "hate" event, it wasn't about racism or homophobia which the history revisionists love to say nowadays (out of context and just factually inaccurate), it was just a party!

Here is a real sport riot. Vancouver Canucks fans trash thier own city after twice loosing game 7 in the final round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The first started in 94 when they lost to the NY Rangers then again in 2011 with the Boston Bruins.
