TARDIS lands in Runcorn thanks to whizzy editing skills. I did this using a combination of packages.

Firstly I found the 3D model of the TARDIS on the web made by James Murphy and Christopher Gill. Then I filmed some footage from my front door.

Then I used PF HOE to motion track the footage and capture 3D information which I used in 3DS Max 7 to animate camera motion.

Then I animated the TARDIS in 3DS Max and rendered it to a TARGA sequence with an Alpha Channel.

I then superimposed the two pieces of footage in After Effects 6.5 Pro and added a dreamy filter to it.

It was a quick job but I think it looks brill.

  • Looks good although a shadow would sell it ,Use the shadow of the tree hanging over the fence for a refrence.Maybe a small puff of dust at the base at impact.

  • cool

  • add sound and it would be perfect

  • Good effort - like the way it moves, but maybe could do with a bumpier landing ?

  • Im planning doing a dr.who film. can you do the effects shots ?

  • Well, you do get a lot of Daleks in Runcorn ;p

  • Nice stuff Chris.
