I'm shooting at my target about 1,020 yards. The water jug was about 1,040 yards.
the 208gr hit much harder than the 178gr. Since the wind was so loud it was very hard to hear the ping noise from the steel target at a 1,000 yards. I hope you guys enjoy the video. thanks for watching.

  • bout to start reloading 308 this next week for my LT OBR Heavy. pretty stoked. Thanks for the vids. Only rifle ammo I have loaded so far is 223. I currently run Varget in my 223, so I am going to try loading 308 with Varget and probably 168 Hornady HPBT and Sierra MatchKings.

Eventually I want to be able to reach out to a 1000 yards since we have a range close by that has a nice set up for that; however, I am going to have to get more practiced at ready wind and mirage first.

  • @rugerp89ipsc use the 175 smk or the 178 amax for 1,000 yards shoots. varget is very nice to use. If you have some time try 208gr amax.

  • awesome shooting guys... damn! 208gr? FPS should be around 2510FPS??? that's like 36.25 MOA elevation and looking at the mirage, my calculation shows 7 MOA left and hold + and - up to 3 MOA. My long range shooting buddy is shooting a 175 SMK and he's only getting 2575 FPS MAX so with 208 that's gotta be no more than 2510 unless you're running it super hot.

  • @koolmike79 208gr amax are sweet. I get 2550fps with 42.5gr of varget and get 2620fps with 47.0gr RL-17 out of my savage 10ba 1:10 twist. Kicks like a 300 win mag. At 1000 yards at 2500ft, Its about 32moa with varget and 29.5moa.

that is some awesome loads bro! have you tried the .338 for 1 mile shots? I've been working my DOPE up to 1 mile, but my scope elevation is struggling to get that far. The longest I've shot my SPF 6.5CM is 1,460 yards. I picked up a used scope with an internal 95MOA elevation and hopefully my Sav 6.5CM will reach out to 1 mile on my next week shoot. If you guys happen to stop by Vegas don't forget to bring your rifles, you guys are always welcome to shoot at our back yard :D

  • @koolmike79 thanks for the invite. I use my buddy .338 dta scout and only hit a target at 1200 yards. I hope in a few weeks try something around 1500-1800 yards. I'm going to get a .338 110bas soon, maybe around new years.

  • great shooting! i am goin to try the 175 SMK with 44g of varget out to 1000 yards.

  • @joediesel187 I will try those. The barrel is 18" with a 1 in 11:25 twist with a surefire comp on it. I just got my SSHD 5x20 mounted and am going to sight it in tomorrow.

I have never shot past 500 yards, can you steer me to some website or readings so that I can get a better idea of what I need to do to be successful. I am an accurate shooter and I know the rifle is capable for sure. I'll get some videos of it up soon.

  • @monkeyking114 savage 10ba in .308win and savage 12fv in .223

  • nice! what gun do you use?
