Tropical Storm Irene hit Vermont on August 28, 2011, causing severe flash floods throughout the state. South Newfane, and neighboring Marlboro, Vermont, were hit particularly hard. Tom Fusco lives on Auger Hole Road in Marlboro, where a flash flooding forced him to evacuate his home and seek higher ground until the water receded.
