Unless the 944 has a turbo body kit on it, he already has a 944 Turbo tranny in it which would be the tranny to use. I'm going to do an 89 944 the same way.

@RandC48 Yeah, if he has the stock 944 trans it is just like a Corvette trans-axle.

@RandC48 To not be a dumbfuck like BOOSTDZ, in 944's the transmission is in fact in the rear of the car (like corvettes) to help get the 50/50 the 944's have.

@RandC48 yea the 944 has a rear gearbox (rear transaxle) and from what i've heard people use the turbo rear transaxle because it can handle the LS1 V8. My friend has plans to do that to his 944. Sick cars though i've driven both and i have a hard time choosing

@RandC48 yes the stock transmission is in the rear, kinda like the vette, on the porsche it hangs of the back, opposite of the vette's position

no.. from what I understand... he is using the stock 944 drivetrain. He has been through a few transmissions already. Or maybe it was rearends. Either way... he hasn't had one built yet.. but its supposed to be done eventually.

Yea... it is a pretty beast car... He dyno'd almost 450hp off the bottle and got almost 100hp on the bottle. He couldn't beat me off the bottle.. but he pulled pretty damn good on the bottle. He now has a 300hp shot on the damn thing.
