Here is a compilation of Legal ID's from stations around the United States played at the top of the hour as requested by the FCC as of January 30, 2010. Notice that WBAL and WBBM share the same music. Also included is a rarity, an older WBAL Legal ID you will hear they don't use anymore since their morning show changed to all news. Enjoy, hope you feel like you are right there in front of the radio listening!

  • does anyone have an HD radio ive never seen one in the stores

  • The Legal ID for WBBM AM HAS to include the AM because there is a WBBM-FM 96.3 in Chicago. The legal ID is the call letters and City with nothing in between. The AM HD has to be in, because they broadcast in AM HD as well. So the "WBBM AM and WBBM AM HD Chicago is correct. Plus CBS Radio is a BIG broadcasting company. They know the legality of the TOH ID's...trust me, they are doing it right. Dont worry.

  • they very well could have. i work in radio as well, and we both know stations will ask for silly changes like the two extra letters. Or who knows, maybe their lawyer told them to say it that way.

  • @trekker2266 but, not probable as what is listed on the license hanging behind me when I was at WDEV said WDEV Waterbury another one hanging behind me said WDEV-FM Warren. The AM suffix is never on a legal-ID I work on public files and legal paperwork for 5 radio stations. For the legal ID to actually be WBBM AM Chicago.. The would have to have asked the FCC to please make them say two extra letters.

  • @moosewelch The legal ID is whatever is listed on the FCC license...thus it is possible that the legal ID is "WBBM AM and WBBM AM HD Chicago"

  • Legal for WBBM should be "WBBM and WBBM HD Chicago" not "WBBM AM and WBBM AM HD Chicago" The letters AM are not needed and shouldn't be in a station legal. The call letters were assigned to AM stations first thus the FM needs to me mentioned on an FM station legal.

  • The WBBM one is awesome!

  • All these news stations were once Top 40!
