  • @WeHadItWrong Wear and tear is what causes the inflammation in OA. The inflammatory response happens due to damage. In fact there is no kind of immune response until there is damage of cells or injury. Damaged cells release histamine which is intercepted by cytokines, which then stimulation and mediate the immune response. So Arthritis is a degenerative disease.

  • I could do without the background music. It's distracting.

  • danvy!!!

  • We had it wrong! Arthritis is NOT a degenerative, wear-and-tear disease... it is an INFLAMMATION disease. Also, studies clearly show that glucosamine and chondroitin DO NOT WORK.

Osteoarthritis is NOT simply a consequence of wear and tear, or aging. Presence of certain cells and cytokines suggest a role of inflammation as a CAUSE.

Inflammation is seen MUCH BEFORE any changes of osteoarthritis are ever seen.
