Turn your speakers up (and subwoofer!) and listen to that EMD twin V12 drone of train MP14 (Metroport) climbing the Whangarata bank on 8th December, 2007. Lead loco is a DC class (G22AR) non-turbo 12-645E, 1650hp unit, while the second loco is a DFT class (GT22MC) turboed 12-645E3C, 2475hp unit.

  • amazing how one locomotive can pull 50 cars.

  • @jaggass - True, but this train has 2 locomotives and 37 cars.

  • WHAT THE HELL IS THAT LOCOMOTIVE!!!???

  • @NS2658 - See video caption.

  • i'm guessing they don't have any TTX intermodal carriers

  • @coolman1558 - If you mean double stacks, then no, the loading gauge doesn't allow for them. Too many tunnels and bridges in the way, plus the axle load of loaded stacks would be too great for much of the track and infrastructure. Most lines have maximum axle load limits of 14 to 16 tonnes, and some with 18.

  • @microaggancio - This train is in New Zealand. Nowhere near the USA.

  • I have never heard of a 1650hp lawn mower, though that might be fun...

  • EMD's always sound good, no matter what kind of locomotive they're in. Good video!

  • Great sound - the sound of reliability, of getting work done.

  • @microaggancio there is nothing wrong on china. the most things u own. Pc. tv . gaming console. or even ur coffe machine was made in china.. not saying china is best. but its cheap to produce this stuff there and port it to the countrys.. in germany or Usa the companys would pay millions more to produce... china is just cheap... cheap people..low paid jobs... and thats what they use for their own profit!

  • Love those EMD's!!!! Reminds me of the GP-9's
