Count on me, Singapore
We have a vision for tomorrow, just believe, just believe
We have a goal for Singapore, we can achieve, we can achieve
You and me, we'll do our part, stand together, heart to heart
We're going to show the world what Singapore can be
We can achieve, we can achieve
There is something down the road that we can strive for
We are told no dream's too bold that we can't try for
There's a spirit in the air, it's a feeling we all share
We're going to build a better life, for you and me
We can achieve, we can achieve
You and me, we'll do our part, stand together, heart to heart
We're going to show the world what Singapore can be
We can achieve, we can achieve
Count on me Singapore, Count on me Singapore
Count on me to give my best and more, count on me Singapore
Together Singapore Singapore! Together Singapore Singapore

PAP's buying of an Olympic silver medal is shameful, especially when there is no welfare money for poor, sick or elderly Singaporeans. PAP's refusal to spend even a single cent to fulfill its governmental responsibility - take care of these Singaporeans Nation Builders who have contributed their entire lives to build up Singapore in the past 40 years - coupled with its willingness to spend millions on foreign sports players, constitutes an unacceptable behaviour that disgust all thinking native Singaporeans.
While other countries do import athletics, no other country ever treats its own native citizens with such contempt while putting foreigners/ new citizens on a pedestal!
This is an educational orientation video, aimed at introducing Singapore to new foreign students studying in Singapore and pupils holding Singapore permanent resident (SPR) cards in primary schools, secondary schools (including the Independent Schools (IS) and those in the Integrated Programme (IP)), junior colleges (JC) and the polytechnics. It is especially recommended for viewing after the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE), or the two Semestral Assessments (SA1 and SA2), or the two Continual Assessments (CA1 and CA2), where there are ample time for some Civics and Moral Education (CME). The importance of National Education (NE) cannot be overemphasized, as the Ministry of Education (MOE) has emphasized many times. Students of the National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and Singapore Management University (SMU) should also view this video, especially if they are under various MOE or Public Service Comission (PSC) scholarships or the edusave scheme.
Foreign Talents (FT) and other not-so-talented foreigners working at Fusionpolis, Biopolis and the other "polis" of various A*STAR organisations may be interested to infuse themselves with some knowledge of Singapore too.
Majulah Singapura!
Happy National Day, Singapore!
Let us all shine for Singapore!
May Singapore always be 晴空万里!
I don't think there is anything wrong having foreign talents playing the games for us. And of course the $ will go to them to attract more of them here.
And of course native talents are important, but apparently we aren't putting emphasis on sports.
And as to the China players, they have lived there for years and it is sensible for them to remain attached emotionally to their original countries. Isn't it the same when our forefathers came here, thinking of returning once they had enough $?

angbinmarist, you don't see anything wrong with PAP refusing to spend any $ on sick poor, or elderly singaporeans, but pour $ to attract foreign athletics! I find your logic weird.
If your father refuse to spend $ to treat your sick brother, refuse to take care of your elderly grandma, refuse to send you to tennis lessons (because he thinks, rightly, that you will never be no.1 in tennis), but your dad pours money to adopt a step-son and give him $ - do you think there is anything wrong?

Yes, angbinmarist, we are not putting enough emphasis on sports. So the solution is to put more emphasis on sports by nurturing local talents. Our local table tennis players JENN LIM PEI QI and ZENA SIM were DEPRIVED of opportunities to international competition and access to top foreign coaches! (Have you heard of them b4? If not, what does this show abt how they were treated?)
Even among foreigners, Gao Ning, Wang Yuegu complained of how the coach spent time on others more than on them.

angbinmarist,
The British did not neglect their own citizens i.e Britons, while pouring money on our forefathers. Thus, your comparison of how PAP treated these Chinese players to how the British govt treated our forefathers make PAP looks bad!
Did the British government spend ANY - never mind lots of, just any - scholarship money on our forefathers, while leaving their own poor, old or sick british citizens to die on the streets, like what our govt is doing?

I agree that these loacls that has won medals for Singapore are very much commendable. Even with disabilities, they worked hard to earn glory for Singapore. They also have their rewards of $100,000SGD. I dont see you mentioning this because? While the foreign players may have a larger sum of rewards, does it mean that the "poor, sick and elderly", as mentioned by you in almost all your videos, can be ignored if the reward was given to a Singaporean? Full of flaws!
guoxiang91 3 years ago
guoxiang91, the flaw is with YOU, not me.
There are two issues: 1. buying foreign players instead of training our own native athletics. 2. spending money to buy olympic medal instead of spending money on the poor, sick and elderly.
This video is about issue 1.
You are flawed to create a 3rd non-existent issue (shld we give reward to singaporean or take care of the poor/sick?) and then attributing it to me and call it my flaw! Amusing!
