My tenneesse walker does this too. it gets annoying when you need then up, so I had to put a keylock on his stall door.

My son's Welsh pony mare does this. No since in latching the stall gate, she can get out!

XD well.....even if she walks slow you can't say her brain is slow! Actually i'm pretty impressed. iv'e seen horses absent mindedly fiddle w/ thier gates and accidentally get them open but she was on a mission she knew exactly what she was doing!

Just for fyi, the barn is inside the paddock, no need for her to stay in, other than keeping her from eating the other horse's grain at feeding time. And, yes, I can lock the bottom or top if she needs to stay in. Also.....Miss would be unlikely to ever run at a show, she's like a faithful puppy at my side...the beauty of Belgian mares.
