I bought a little tin bucket with a candle in it. Over time, the candle got used and it was 'well, what do I do with the bucket?'
the answer was to make a pigeon-proof windowsill feeder for the birds and of course, Loopy....
I didn't think she'd take to it - but she surprised me!
Later this week: Loopy and the pumpkin - will our dear little girl be tempted by the big orange squash? She's eaten some pumpkin seeds... so who knows! Even I don't know yet, I havent got the pumpkin yet (as of posting this!)
Cool! It works!-- it's kind of interesting that you're making a bird-proof squirrel feeder instead of the other way around - but I've never understood the whole "squirrel-proof" methodology either... :)

It's mostly pigeonproof... they sort of walk up to it, peck the side of the bucket and give up... Baldy the bluetit visits and so too do the sparrows. It's height adjustable to make it easy to clean/fill/scare pigeons . It's filled with peanut shells packed out with sunflower/pumpkin and birdseed - time consuming, but ultimately worth it!
It's defied the magpies too. And the windowsill looks cleaner too :-D
