My DIY "Oxyclean":

1 cup hot water
1/2 cup baking soda
1/2 cup hydrogen peroxide

Combine ingredients in your soaking bucket and top off with cold water. If you use this homemade cleaner, you may want to skip the vinegar. If you do decide to add vinegar, add it AFTER you have topped off your bucket with the cold water. Mixing vinegar and baking soda can cause a foamy reaction. It wont hurt you or your cloth, but if the bucket is too full it could overflow.

I add 3 table spoons of vinegar AFTER I have soaked my pads for 10 minutes in the DIY oxyclean solution just to be safe. The bubbles produced do seem to clean it better, but just be aware that it may foam up!

  • I always wanted to use reusable pads, but my mom thought they were disgusting. After I started getting rashes from regular pads, she pretty much had to let me use regular pads. She doesnt want me to put them in the washer with other clothes, or by themselves because it would waste water. Could I just hand wash/scrub them? The blood doesnt bother me like it does my mom.

  • @nerdwithmakeup handwashing is great, I'd take them to the laundry mat once in a while though.

  • hey im thinking of switching to pads but is castile soap ok to wash the pads? will it not affect the material and absorbency ?

  • @Cherrish1234 it should be ok

  • just wondering if there is any reason you cant just dump the bucket with the soak liquid right into the washer?

  • @kahlanmanske you can totally do that if you want! I have before

  • @fakepsychicbitches It's not about being cheap, it's about chemical free, waste free, reusable options. It's about not having to depend on big box companies to manage MY personal hygiene. It's about liberation. If you would rather pay money every month for products, that's fine. But there are people out there (myself included) who would rather save money, waste less, and not put chemical laden disposables near our vaginas!

  • I have NEVER EVER NEVER heard of cloth pads and I thought "what the heck!!! how nasty is this! this chick is ca-ray-zee!!!" I watched the WHOLE video and I am now thinking "hhmmm...maybe I should try these out" Good vid....Im impressed on how open and informative your video is!

  • So can you wait until the end of your cycle to wash? Will this increase chances of stains. Sorry if you already addressed this.
