If I remember correctly, In the previous over, Donald had him caught behind, but the appeal was denied by the umpire. Donald was furious for that wrong judgement. He had no intention of getting Artherton out. It was all rage.

@Archangel3583 Would you ever see a classic confrontation like this Atherton v Donald in 20/20 Cricket? No you wouldn't.
20/20 is Cricket for simpletons. Test Cricket is it purest and best format.

@BlueTrueScouse You make it sound as though bowlers can't muster up the same aggression in Twenty20s. I like all three formats equally, they all bring something unique and different to the mix.

@fendweller Yes England did get the runs with Atherton finishing on 98 not out to win by 8 wickets and then won the next test at Headingley to win the seris 2-1.

cricket at it's best. this is what the modern game is missing

Did they get the runs? I can't remember.

@nphanlon1973 I don't think that's quite right, although I understand where you're coming from. Atherton was a dogged opener and always played for the team, but primarily because he didn't have an excessive range of shots he could play. Donald barraged him with the short stuff for that exact reason. This is vicious bowling so while the deliveries aren't going to hit the stumps Atherton had to take the hit every time because he was scared of edging it. There's more to cricket than just off stump.

the bowler looks like voldemort (somewhat)

This type of bowling is almost extinct now!
This kind of confrontation is what cricket is all about, its test cricket at its best, far better than that 20/20 shite.
