Amateur footage of the COSMO-SkyMed satellite launch for Italy aboard a Delta II rocket from Vandenberg AFB, California on June 7th, 2007 at 7:34 p.m. PDT. I filmed this from my backyard with a Cannon S500 digital camera. Distance from the launch pad was about 13 miles. Radio chatter in the background is from a scanner tuned to Vandenberg frequencies. The "plus 50" is 50 seconds after liftoff. Also heard in the background is a speaker at a nearby park for the AIDS LifeCycle 6 event. She reacted to the launch by saying something to the effect of, "That's what happens when women in uniform take over."
Worked this launch. Beautiful work paying off!
