Between Amtrak trains in Chicago, I took a brief tour of the Chicago EL, especially around the Loop.

  • @ranus42 The cta "L" got 8 cars for rush hours and weekdays, on weekends it run 4 cars expect yellow line which it on run 2 cars but that becuz it only has 2stops.

  • I just don't understand why there aren't more train cars? I'm from NYC and we have at least 9 cars per train line with the exception being the C and G lines.

  • @Yestrooper1 um considering he's in Chicago ill take a wild guess and say thats where he left from.

  • You said at the end of the video you were headed to your Amntrak train to LA. Where were you coming from?

  • @amtrc After the February 1977 derailment in the loop on Wabash, Mayor Jane Byrne wanted to get rid of the Loop!

  • it wsould have been horrifying if chicago would have torn down all the el tracks

years ago look at the gas price in the 1970's i was hearing of some abandonment

of el track they would have been fool's. smart thinking to keep cta el's running

los angeles in 1959 and 1963 did a foolish thing to abandon rail trainsit but we had to build it back high auto gasoline prices

  • no my uncle drives cta trains and the maximum they can go is 65

  • @josephvanorsby78 if the CTA motormen run their trains over 55 mph they are alerted to overspeed and will be shutdown if they don't react to the alert sound.

  • thats not fair. you only recorded r slow zones. Everyone the cta goes from 55 to 65 mph. we have 1 express line and 2 subway lines.we r home of the longest subway platform.

  • @ranus69 CTA will run 4 cars non-rush hour. Once rush hour hits, they'll either use 6 or 8 cars. Pink Line which only runs 4 cars even though its stations can handle 8, Green Line which can only handle 6, Purple Line Express which only runs during rush hour AND can only handle 6. Red and Blue Lines always run 8 except weekends. Yellow Line doesn't even enter Chicago. Orange and Brown uses 8.

Chicago has a lot of curves and Slow Zones and Purple Line Express has its own track...until Belmont.
