  • Thanks. I actually have his instructional tapes. The only thing I don't like about him is his kick defenses. Mind you, Theriault is one of my favorites, not only for his prowess in the ring, but also for his clean cut personality. I've been turned off by many of today's boxing, kickboxing, mma fighters due to their thug like attitudes. In order to elevate the status of combat sports, we need someone like Theriault. Unfortunately today's youth don't seem to understand that.

  • Well jean-yves theriault in Kick boxing is like jean luc brassard in acrobatic ski,

    or Marvin Hagler in boxing.

If that dosen't tell you anything: let's say

    Tyra banks in modeling.

  • I feel so lucky to actually know him... :)

  • @legkicker01 i was a young man. an he was the beast

  • @stevevandien

When you look at the true World Class competitors in Western Kickboxing they are as solid as Boxing or the others and balanced well rounded fighters. Ishmael Robles, Billye Jackson, Frank Holloway, Emilio Narvaez, Davy Johnston, Brad Hefton, Joe Louis, Howard Jackson, Paul Vizzio, Cliff Thomas, Troy Dorsey, Jerry Trimble, Demetrius Edwards, Alvin Prouder, Gordon Franks... Theres another 15 right there: so what was your point again?

  • @TEXASFENDERBENDER The bottom line was how many of these guys were well-balanced between boxing and kicking. Not many. I saw a LOT of PKA on ESPN during the "kick of the 80s," and most were not impressive in this regard. A lot of them threw half-assed semi-round-semi-front kics to get the MKR out of the way, then relied on their hands. Of COURSE there were exceptions, like Wallace, Smith, Havanas, Thurman, Alexio, Rhome. But they were the exceptions, not the rule.

  • @stevevandien What are you smoking Brother? Theriault was an amazing kicker if not flashy and he was very effective the guy kicked Don Wilson in the head a few times and Wilson was known as a kicker. Theriault knocked guys out with both hands and both legs. You should do your research on the man's 20 year career and almost 90 fights AND SIXTY KOS. Before you postulate your opinion and look a fool.

  • @stevevandien Man you must have NEVER seen PKA in life to make that statement. Wallace, Havanas, Theriault, Thurman, Cliff Thomas, all great punchers and I could continue. The PKA had the strongest competition and best fighters in every division above 130.

  • my bro trains with this guy what now
