their were actually 2 versions of this game on the c64. the first (shown in this vid) was rheliced by atari in 1983. the second was rheliced by ocean in 1986.
Yep. I was a DK tournament winner in the arcades...but Atari 8-bit was by far the best home version in terms of play. Control was superb, and the speed was wonderful and fluid.
The c64 version was just awful because it played like molasses. They did do an awesome job with the graphics though. It looks fantastic in a still picture!
@ioport It's most likely the poster used an emulator and left it set to PAL. It runs quite a bit faster on NTSC (though not at the breakneck speeds shown on the Atari 8-bit).
Needs optimization. A lot.
