Josh..you're one of my favorite apologists (sp)...I appreciate the work you do and for helping re-affirm my faith (not blind faith :)
You and the late Dr. D. James Kennedy are masters in the field of apologetics!

@mightymergz Christianity is idolatrous (Jesus and the cross, for example). It took a lot from polytheism, the Mithras cult, for example. December 25th was a roman holiday.
"Where did the first Christians come from?"
Nazareth?

@KayBeeEee1983 "Christianity is the synthesis of Greco-Roman religion and Judaism." Can you explain please? I see them as quite different. I mean one is heavily polytheistic and have icons for gods and Judaism is very very monotheistic and iconoclastic for their God. (just to point out one non-harmonizable difference)
Nero killed Christians because of their different beliefs
"I think the first Christians..." Where did the first Christians come from?

@mightymergz Christianity is the synthesis of Greco-Roman religion and Judaism. Religious tension was the instigator of the first Jewish revolt, which resulted in the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem. I think the first Christians saw the potential of this culture clash, so they came up with a way of harmonizing the two. It appeared to fail, much like people who thought that jesus' crucifixion was a sign of his failure as messiah. In fact, they succeeded, it just took a few centuries.

@JoshMcDowell You didn't answer the question.

People have died for every religion, so does that make every religion true? No it does not. Religion is a fairytale and its practice is a cult. These men died for their cult. Cultists die for their cult all the time. Nothing new.

Christianity just sprung out of no where.

LoL, fail

There is not one scrap of reliable evidence that the Apostles ever existed.
-
So in other words, we should believe the Bible because the corrupt church of Rome says so? The Bible gives us two conflicting accounts of the death of Judas and is silent on all the other Apostles. What reliable historical evidence exists?
What proof do you have that the Apostles died for their testmony of Jesus?

Thanks for the important question. Where the Bible and early church documents state how the apostles died we have as much proof as any other historical fact. There certainly is not any reliable contrary historical evidence. We can't apply one set of rules for the facts documented in the Bible, and another set for any other historically documented facts. Thanks again.
