What is The Atheist Experience?

The Atheist Experience is a weekly cable access television show in Austin, Texas geared at an atheist and non-atheist audience. The Atheist Experience is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin (ACA), a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.

  • I don't believe in eternal hell as most would imagine, I'm a Christian and can show Biblically that the Hell or Sheol is simply the grave. No one is in "hell" right now. However one day all people who ever lived will stand before God and give an account of their deeds and all of us deserve the Second Death, annihilation, but a good number will be given eternal life by their testimony of faith in Jesus Christ as a propitiation for this sins. People know that evil things are worthy of judgement.

  • @Masaries1234 you are correct when saying "the theory of evolution says nothing about how the universe got here"

  • @Masaries1234 the theory of evolution is that change over time occurs... Nothing more, nothin g less. now go read a book.

  • @Masaries1234 The theory of evolution doesn't even say anything about the age of the earth, but according to the evidence and dating methods we have, which is consistent with geology, cosmology and other fields of science, shows that the earth is atleast 4.5billion yrs old and the life started some 3.5 billion years ago. Evolution simply explains how life can change by the mechanism of natural selection. Thats it.

  • @taz81848 You said "The theory of evolution has nothing to do with the origin of the universe.

You obviously have a woefully insufficient grasp of what the theory of evolution actually entails."

So the theory of evolution says nothing about how the universe got here? But theory posits that over billions of years life formed on this planet, so the Universe must have been here billions of years ago. We don't know how we got here, but we know that billions of years ago life started to form?

  • @MrFIJIBULA so you can't prove who committed a crime if you don't have any eye witnesses?

  • @MrFIJIBULA 2) If you were standing on a raisin, the others would appear to be moving while you stood still. This stretch happened (until evidence shows otherwise) because of a "bang" as we so in-eloquently put it. A logically fallacious idea is we need to have be there. The light we measure is very old, this is why they say cosmology is like looking at a time machine. In 2013 they are going to launch a satellite better and further than Hubble's upgrades 2 see if they can detect the first bang.

  • @MrFIJIBULA 1) We gauge our knowledge through of the big bang via constantly changing cosmological progressions that we measure in light. When we look out at galaxies, the light is graphed as waves, the numerics on the graph and the run against a numerically based color coding chart. What they found is that all these galaxies are moving to the "red" end (also known as red shift) from prior. This indicates that space is stretching like raisin bread and each planet is a raisin. cont...

  • ...the only way to prove the big bang theory is to be there to see if it did happen

  • Put it like this...the big bang theory, some scientists think that it happened(some think they know it happended) others are not so sure it happened because no one knows for sure what happened because we werent there.

GOD- Most christians think hes real...(i know he is real) but even some have there doubts because they are unfaithful but we are not GOD so we cant speak for GOD or say what he is or isnt because we aren't him the only way to find god is to seek god
