This is the inside story of Street Art - a brutal and revealing account of what happens when fame, money and vandalism collide. Exit Through the Gift Shop follows an eccentric shop-keeper turned amateur film-maker as he attempts to capture many of the world's most infamous vandals on camera, only to have a British stencil artist named Banksy turn the camcorder back on its owner with wildly unexpected results.

One of the most provocative films about art ever made, Exit Through the Gift Shop is a fascinating study of low-level criminality, comradeship and incompetence. By turns shocking, hilarious and absurd, this is an enthralling modern-day fairytale... with bolt cutters.

  • I love this. I love Banksy <3

  • @Kints93 The fucking point of the film is to talk about the phenomenon and create a catalyst for more people to talk about it.

  • 0:59 - 1:09

    In before the lock.

  • Who is the guy with the top hatted tag, and the x for the left eye?

  • @SuperQweertyuiop this is not your run of the mill graffiti you and yer boys did. banksys is art that serves a purpose. protest and thought provoking as art should be. there's more to life than lining your pockets.

  • i love Banksy. I love MBW. I love this movie. Love. Capital L O V E.

  • where can i find this online?

  • "The life and death of street art," should have been the blurb for this! MBW epitomizes the modern American ethos of capitalizing on someone else's work. As Banksy pointed out, artists spend years honing their style and this one guy just absorbs it all and ends up making it meaningless. People who love MBW's work don't realize it's art regurgitated into a product. His work is gift shop material. Marketing. He's a con artist. In retrospect, the blurb should be "The life and death of class."

  • 5/5 !!!

  • This is by far the most interesting art documentary I have ever seen. I was infinitely grateful to have been introduced to the incredible medium of street art by it.
