Here is a second snapshot of Kaeja d'Dance's upcoming production, Abattoir. Set to premiere in Vancouver and Toronto in March, 2008, the excerpt demonstrates exceptional dancers diving into the partnering style that has been developed for this work. For more information on the show, please check out our website at www.kaeja.org, or read below for a more detailed description.

Editor: Susan Lee
Camera: Allen Kaeja with additional camera Karen Kaeja
Dancers: Kaeja d'Dance
Music: Edgardo Moreno

As Allen's visceral aesthetic meets Karen's liquid, sensual athleticism, they create a major new work full of depth and disturbing beauty. Dense with hard-edged kinetics, Abattoir combines the disciplines of dance, music, theatre and exquisite new opera vocals. Allen's vision of our capacity for innocence ignites this multi-disciplinary dance production. Shifting perception, intimate tension and eroding humanity challenge one's passage towards dignity. Abattoir features the company's world-class performers (Tanya Crowder, Robert Halley, Susan Lee, Ryan Lee, Allen Kaeja, Karen Kaeja, Tim Spronk, and Aaron Willis) in collaboration with the exceptional and fiery talents of new opera singer Fides Krucker, and composer Edgardo Moreno. Original text by Jason Sherman. Designers include lighting by Roelof Peter Snippe and costumes by Jorge Sandoval.
